Carolina Pediatric Attention Love and Support, or CPALS, is a University Organization of Registered UNC Medical Center Volunteers. CPALS is a service organization composed of UNC students whose mission is to provide trusting, supportive relationships with pediatric patients and their families.
CPALS spend an initial semester volunteering in the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Clinic or the Inpatient Pediatric Playroom. Following that initial volunteer experience, veteran CPALS may earn the opportunity to be matched 1:1 with a specific patient. CPALS provide fun and support in the inpatient and clinic environment as well as engage in CPALS organization fundraisers and special events that support UNC’s Division of Pediatric Hematology Oncology and it’s psycho-social support programming.
