From video game music to animation soundtracks, movie scores to mainstream hits, Columbia Pops was founded in 2014 as an outlet of expression for Columbia’s classical musicians interested in exploring the realm of contemporary popular music. Entirely student-run, our goal is to engage students not only as musicians in an orchestra but also as conductors, arrangers, leaders, and much more. Columbia Pops welcomes members from all reaches of Columbia University, including Columbia College, School of Engineering and Applied Science, School of General Studies, Barnard College, as well as the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. With a diverse group of talented performers, our ensemble is committed to performing student arrangements alongside published works of any and all popular music.
