The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) at Notre Dame exists to support engineers on campus with information and activities related to the aerospace field.
The AIAA sponsors lectures, organizes trips to sites of interest in aerospace, and offers activities to promote hands-on learning.
Many AIAA members have also participated in:
Design, Build, Fly, sponsored by the national AIAA Chapter, Cessna, and Raytheon, challenges students to build a radio-controlled airplane to meet a set of mission parameters that vary with each competition year.
The Notre Dame Rocket Team directs students to design a reusable rocket to reach one mile in altitude. The Rocket Team competes annually in a competition sponsored by NASA.
