Supporting Washington State University Robotics Club
The Robotics Club of Washington State University is asking for any monetary donations, part donations, or sponsorship for the various scholarships and projects put together through the club. As WSU’s largest engineering club, we provide upwards of a hundred different students engineering based tutorials, advanced projects, community outreach opportunities. We also offer pathways for equipment certifications, and a fun safe environment for a multitude of unique and gifted students. As we grow, so do our ambitions, demand for more projects/tutorials and the overall cost of running the club. This funding goes directly toward continuing our projects and retaining our club members and community. We have pinpointed three specific ways to how you can support our club along with hundreds of students, our community, and WSU.
Our Scholarships
This next coming year we are planning to offer a few different scholarship options to our members. We want to reward and encourage continuous participation in our club activities like our outreach events, in our bi-weekly educational tutorials, and for completion of our various projects. We would like to offer at least one annual $500 scholarship to our general members and additional $250 scholarships to our project leaders. We want to give our members something to work for, to be able to show on their worth and dedication to improving themselves and others. These will be coveted scholarships unique to the school and award to club members based on merit, participation, growth, and leadership. This will be unique since it is a scholarship based on hands on experience in engineering, not based on grades, gender, nationality, or income.
Our Community Outreach
Our club has already made a big impact in our community. We have put together large and small events to help educate, inspire, and entertain both K-12 grade students as well as students at our college. We put on a large fun and educational event for the Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Idaho where we taught these K-12th grade girls the basics of coding, electricity, magnetism, robotics, motors, and batteries. The event was such a success the Girl Scouts have asked to make it an annual if not a bi-annual event. We have also put on and have been a part of events with the Boy Scouts and the local middle school. Funding to our club will enable us to get supplies that allow us to continue to put on these large events where we can give back to our greater community. Any donations to our club will enable a sponsorship and allow for your company’s name to appear alongside our other sponsors on these outreach events.
Projects
Our biggest plans and the most important part of our club are our projects. The Robotics Clubs is a way for many different clubs and students to come together to build and idea they had, or to compete in competitions, or to learn how to build something amazing. We have several projects that are underway right now with some of the most notable ones being; a full size rover used for a major national NASA competition, a robotic arm, battle bots, and a group working on building medical
equipment. The Robotics Clubs plans to put WSU on the map with a lot of these competitions we have entered for this upcoming school year. We have motivated groups and individuals who can build some awesome things however we have one thing that looms over all of us – lack of funding. All of our outreach and scholarship ideas aside our projects are what make Robotics Club so great. These projects take up and deserve more of our funds and all of them require a lot of materials that cost a lot of money. We would not be where we are today if it wasn't for the generous donations we have received thus far, and we are doing our absolute best to ensure that lack of future donations does not limit where we will be tomorrow.
Support Washington State University’s Robotics Club
As our funds dry up, we run into the problem of potentially having to end the largest engineering club at WSU. Are members are part of the club to learn, to gain experience with hands on projects, and grow both as people and engineers. Without a means to pay for supplies, projects, or tutorials, and community events, we will be unable to keep our club together.
So we are asking for your help in continuing the amazing progress of this club. Help support our outreach that will touch hundreds of students of all ages. Sponsor our scholarships to help promote quality club members and benefit those that contribute the most. Help with our need to fund, support, piece together these big scale engineering projects that will (and do) help to promote our college, the engineering and computer science fields, and inspire so many students. Any and all contributions will be helpful and appreciated. If you feel you want to contribute to our club and our students, please email me back.
Sincerely, Thank You
