Greetings!
It is with great pleasure that we, the Northeastern University Black Engineering Student Society (BESS), a chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), would like to offer you access to an important and significant minority student group holding over 40 years of legacy at Northeastern University. We have updated our partnership offerings to meet the needs and requests of your companies to recruit the best and most diverse talent available, maximize your corporate visibility at Northeastern University, and positively impact the urban communities of Greater Boston.
BESS was founded in 1974 by two black engineering students at Northeastern University to counter the lack of camaraderie and communication among black engineers and to increase the retention rates of black students within the various engineering disciplines. BESS later became a chartered chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers after having recognized NSBE's potential as a driving force for BESS to achieve its mission on a larger, national scale.
Acknowledging this proud history, it is important to recognize the latest achievements of BESS. In the Fall of 2014, a two-day celebration was held in honor of the 40th Anniversary of BESS which led to the gathering of over 100 alumni recognizing 40 years of Black Engineering Excellence at Northeastern University. Other major accomplishments for BESS in 2014 include the 2014 New England Zone Chapter of the Summer, 2014 Regional Chapter of the Month and the 2015 Best Medium Sized Chapter of the Year from the National Society of Black Engineers, presented during the Annual National Society of Black Engineers Conference held in Anaheim, CA. The programing responsible for the diverse regional, zone and national recognition of BESS was partly possible through the assistance offered from our corporate partners in collaboration with the passion and dedication of our members.
Our annual programming efforts and sponsorship opportunities allow recruiters to obtain maximum visibility among our members and full access to potential future applicants. We encourage you and your colleagues to review this entire Partnership Packet, and to discover how a partnership could benefit both your company and our chapter.
Thank you and we look forward to your participation and support!
Best regards,
The Black Engineering Student Society
