IDEA Labs is a student run, tax exempt nonprofit founded at Washington University in St. Louis that forms teams of medical, engineering, business, and other students around problems provided by healthcare professionals to develop new medical technologies. The IDEA Labs platform provides teams with the training, structure, mentorship, financial resources, and facilities necessary to build new devices and applications. We guide teams through problem identification, clinical need assessment, market assessment, prototyping, business plan development, and provisional patenting before they present their budding companies publicly for the first time at our national Demo Day. We are expanding this platform into the IDEA Labs Incubator Network with groups in Boston (Harvard and MIT), Minneapolis (University of Minnesota), and Philadelphia (University of Pennsylvania). This national network improves access to talent for early hires, increases investor interest through greater deal flow, and allows chapters to co-develop and share training and other resources. We work with companies in many arenas to facilitate entrepreneurial training and opportunities for students, and we look forward to working more with you!
