The goal of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is to provide a way for Mechanical Engineers at UCSB to get more involved in engineering projects and help create a strong network with engineers in industry and professors. Every year we host a lunch event with Mechanical Engineering faculty members, as well as a senior panel where younger students have the opportunity to seek advice in any area from the senior members. We also host guest speakers from local companies and labs, go on tours of local industries, and host speakers that share resume and interview advice.
ASME members can also gain volunteer experience by helping at events where elementary school students and prospective freshmen learn about the opportunities that engineering provides. There is also a yearly design and manufacturing project that ASME completes as a group. We aspire to create a tight-knit group of Mechanical Engineers and provide opportunities to help each member succeed in the competitive job market.
